Summer Skiing in Tignes

The glacier is used in summer and the autumn for race training by many of the professional and international ski race teams, but at the same time is open to everyone for recreational skiing. It is accessed by the funicular railway in Tignes Val Claret.

Mountain Biking in Tignes

Tignes Bike Park is situated in the mountain ranges of Palafour, Tovière and the Grande Motte. The Tignes bike park has all levels of runs and routes for all types mountain biking including downhill mountain biking and cross country mountain biking.

There are downhill mountain bike runs for beginners as well as proficient cyclists. The entire mountain bike circuit can be reached via the Tovière aeroski, the Palafour ski lift and the Grande Motte funicular railway.

The natural ups and downs of Tignes’ landscape makes an ideal playground for all styles of mountain biking: rugged or hilly, grassy slopes suited to downhill runs or gentle slopes for beginners, rare spots such as “doline de gypse” and not forgetting the wonderful view of Tignes!

On the Tignes mountain bike development programme are a mini-downhill tack, a pump track, a parallel slalom and two modifiable zones in specially adapted wood. Tignes is also adding two new cross country mountain bike circuits, the Cow Lanta and Trailspotting.

Tignes Skatepark

In the summer in Tignes, freestylers of every discipline come together at the lakeside skatepark for hours of wicked riding. This state-of-the-art facility was imported from Basel, Switzerland following the 2005 European Skateboard Championships. With a surface area measuring 800 m², it has 12 features and a mini ramp adapted for use by the general public and suited to inline skating, BMX cycling and freestyle ATB.

The eighth largest in France, Tignes skatepark offers hard-core riders an urban playground through its unusual ‘street park’ design. Just a beginner? No worries. A street playground enables you to learn the fundamentals of riding at a relaxed paced. It’s enough to send the adrenaline surging and participate in one of many summer contests!

Tignes adventure trail offers hours of fun and games, physical activity and plenty of laughter in the great outdoors. Ropebridge, zipline, suspension bridge, overhead ladders and cantilever footbridges guarantee spine-tingling fun. Wearing a harness, you’ll slide from tree to tree, imitating Tarzan or Indiana Jones on an extraordinary escapade.
